Why open source?
Some years back, I decided there was a need for "open source" sewing patterns - not just free instructions on the web with a "You can use this but don't resell the results" afterthought, but but properly licensed stuff like I use when I'm wearing my software developer hat. Since then, the potential for hobby crafters to sell their work has only increased (Etsy, etc.), so there's more need than ever for the ability to sell stuff without worrying about getting a special dispensation from the pattern designer, or worrying about a C&D or a DMCA takedown notice.
I encourage other craftbloggers to consider the same: have you seriously thought about why you put that notice there, or is it just because everyone else does it? What, exactly, do you lose if someone sells things made from your pattern? Are they profiting that much from your work, or is the lion's share of the work in physically producing and marketing the items - would you gain more from the exposure if you freed up your pattern than you would gain from a licensing fee?
Look into the Creative Commons licenses. Even if you decide you do need the NonCommercial restriction, it's useful to have a well-crafted license to prevent misunderstandings between you and your readers.
