I'm Karen, and I run Silver Seams
I live in a Craftsman bungalow built in 1919, literally a stone's throw from downtown Wichita, Kansas. Well, provided you can throw a stone a mile, that is. I can't.
I learned to sew as a kid, taking Stretch'n'Sew lessons with my mother. I made a lot of my own clothes, some of which I still have but, um, don't wear: polyester doubleknit like whoa. (I just showed my age, didn't ?) Somehow, I picked it back up as an adult, but without the polyester doubleknit.
Driven by way too many muses, I convinced some of them to compromise. The wildlife-art muse and the sculptor muse formed a committee with the sewing muse, and Silver Seams was born. And the software-developer muse, not to be left out, insisted on bringing the open-source ethic, the gift culture, to the craftblog world (and sometimes, on messing around with the blogging software more than sewing).
