Skinny Bunny and Santa Mittens patterns added

I forgot the Santa Mittens pattern when carrying things over - I've added some instructions, though the pictures are mostly self-explanatory.

I initially skipped the Skinny Bunny on purpose, figuring no one would use it without pictures, and to my surprise I recently got some referrals from Flickr and went to check them out, and discovered someone had made one almost a year ago. So I put it in the gallery, and then remembered I had a picture of Fran's Bunny attached to the pattern, so I guess it wasn't *entirely* a blind pattern. But a reminder: if you make something from one of my patterns, I'd love to put it in the gallery... send me a link (or a photo, if you don't have a place to post it yourself).

(Edit: Fixed the link to the Santa MittenS pattern... oops.)

Local color

I live in a historic district in Wichita called Delano. Douglas, the original main east-west street, still has the same look in Delano as small-town downtowns all over Kansas: two-story facades of all sorts of styles. And for quite awhile, it had the semi-abandoned look of a small-town downtown. Fortunately, there's been a lot of reconstruction, and a lot of new businesses have opened up there.

One of 'em was one I'd noticed the last time I went down Douglas: Twist. (Obviously, I don't go down Douglas often enough, since it's been there since last July. What can I say? The Second Street bridge is closer to me.) And it was brought to my attention again when the paper had an article, nay, a whole section yesterday, on yarn shops. They even have a shop blog. I see they have a spinning day, so I'm guessing they might carry unspun fiber (though I don't see any in the online stuff), and maybe sometime (especially when the weather gets nice enough to walk or bike over) I'll go do some needlefelting there. Because, y'know: not a crochet/knitter.

Now, area fabric shops are not entirely unrepresented in the local shop blog front: Needle Nook has one. And they're a nifty shop, though unfortunately (for me) pretty much clothing-centric, and located on the other side of town.

There's a closer fabric shop - Water Street Fabrics - which isn't quite Delano (the "Water" for which the street is named is the river), and which, um, I haven't ever been to. Because, you know: no fabric for a year. Also, their website is a placeholder, and no evidence of a shop blog.

My perambulations around area craftblogs did turn up a not-quite-local place of interest: Kansas Keepsakes, a scrapbooker retreat place in Lyons (about an hour and a half from here). Not a scrapbooker, either, but mother-in-law is, and she could really use a retreat. (Edit: Aaaaaand I guess that was their cue to spam me (twice, once after I asked them to stop) so I guess I'll pass on that.) And my sewing stuff is pretty portable.

And port it I have been - to two waiting rooms, today. In fact, the only SS work I've done in-house this week has been on the website. Today's WIP Friday pictures would be more of the snowshoe hare, if I'd actually taken any - progress has been made, but he's not done yet. I'm still leaning toward eBay - I'd really like to put him on Bid4Bears, but the site just isn't robust enough (the fees page is presently blank, so the only way to figure out what options are there is apparently to set up an auction). So my thoughts are that I'll test the waters at eBay, crazy new fees and all, and when I'm comfortable I know what the market will bear (ahem), move to Bearpile.

Housecleaning

I've done some rearrangement, so bear with me.

I've cleaned the patterns up and moved them out of blog entries and into their own web pages, with a little index here, or from the "patterns" tab on the new menu bar. I still need to move some images around behind the scenes, but that's mostly done.

Most of the patterns link to a gallery page, where there's still a little work to be done - an index, for starters, and links back to the corresponding pattern page, and some general cleanup, but you get the idea. If you've made something from one of my patterns and you don't see it in "Other Interpretations," send me a link (or a picture) so I can get you in there.

The old "patterns" sub-blog is now just a label here in the main blog (when I split everything up, Blogger didn't have labels). The "patterns" label should continue to have its own Atom and RSS feeds, though there will doubtless be some things to iron out there. The actual patterns will continue to go into permanent web pages. Entries labeled "patterns" will be limited to notifications about additions or changes to those web pages, and the occasional admin post like this one.

The "bestiary" sub-blog is retired for now. I haven't forgotten about it, but it's bumped down the priority list.

The "forsale" sub-blog is a label too, and will contain announcements when things appear in my etsy shop, on eBay, or on Bid4Bears. Which, provided this housecleaning doesn't break everything, I hope to have going Real Soon Now!
